LOOKING AFTER YOUR JEWELLERY

Varying factors can influence the condition of jewellery. Please be sure that your jewellery is properly cleaned, polished and stored for long-lasting wear. Please read through the care instructions to ensure your jewels are kept looking their best.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Protect your jewellery from knocks, scratches, chemicals and extreme temperatures to minimise damage or wear. We recommend removing your jewellery when sleeping, showering or bathing and particularly when on the beach, in the sea and in chlorinated water. Avoid spraying perfume or applying creams where they might come into direct contact with your jewellery.

Please keep in mind that each piece of 5th Street jewellery is hand-made costume jewellery. These pieces are made using genuine freshwater pearls, beads, shells and other natural materials which are fragile in nature. As many of the materials used to make our jewellery are uniquely formed by nature, no pieces are exactly alike. Due to the fragile nature of the jewellery, pieces can be liable to break if pulled or tugged at repeatedly. Please treat your hand-made treasures with care.

Storage:

To protect your jewellery, pieces should be individually placed in pouches to stop them being scratched or tangled. Ideally, store your jewellery in a dark, cool and dry place and try to keep pieces separate to avoid breakage, scratching or tangling.

Gold Filled Jewellery:

Please note that gold filled jewellery is not solid gold. Do not use polishing creams or polishing cloths on gold filled jewellery, as it can remove the precious metal and result in tarnishing. Perfumes, creams, lotions, and cosmetics all contain substances that can affect gold filled jewellery.

Cleaning Your Gold Filled Jewellery:

Although gold filled jewellery will not tarnish, it will get dirty. Protect your layer of gold and extend its shine by periodically cleaning each piece and avoiding substances that aren’t PH neutral.
